1. Bring a Valid Government-Issued Photo ID
Michigan law requires every signer to provide satisfactory identification before a document can be notarized.
Acceptable forms of identification typically include:
- Michigan Driver’s License
- State Identification Card
- United States Passport
- Military Identification
Your identification should be current and contain a photograph.
2. Bring the Document
Have the document with you at the time of your appointment.
Please complete any information you are responsible for before the appointment. However, do not sign the document if it must be signed in the presence of the notary. If you are unsure, simply wait until your appointment and we will guide you through the process.
3. Make Sure All Required Signers Are Present
Every person whose signature must be notarized should be present during the appointment and bring their own valid photo identification.
4. Confirm Whether Witnesses Are Required
Some documents require witnesses in addition to a notary public.
If your document requires witnesses, please arrange for them before your appointment unless other arrangements have been made.
5. Be Ready for Payment
