Policies & Information

At North Shore Notary Services, we strive to provide professional, reliable, and transparent mobile notary services. The following information explains our service area, payment policies, scheduling, and other important details.

Service Area

North Shore Notary Services provides mobile notary services throughout Southeast Michigan.

Our standard travel fee includes appointments within 10 driving miles of our office location.

Appointments beyond 10 driving miles are welcome and will be quoted based on the additional travel distance. We will always provide your total cost before confirming your appointment.

Scheduling Appointments

Appointments are available by appointment only.

Same-day, evening, weekend, and holiday appointments are accepted and are subject to availability.

Identification Requirements

Michigan law requires every signer to present satisfactory identification before a document can be notarized.

Please have a current government-issued photo ID available at the time of your appointment.

Examples include:

  • Driver’s License
  • State Identification Card
  • United States Passport
  • Military Identification

If acceptable identification cannot be provided, the notarization cannot be completed.

Document Preparation

Please complete all documents before your appointment, but do not sign any document that requires notarization until instructed to do so by the notary, unless the document specifically requires an acknowledgment of a previously completed signature.

If you have questions regarding the contents of your document, please contact the person or organization that prepared it. A notary public cannot provide legal advice or explain the legal effect of a document.

Payment

Payment is due at the time of service.

For your convenience, we accept:

  • Mastercard
  • American Express
  • Discover
  • Venmo
  • Zelle

An invoice will be sent to your email in advance of the appointment.

Travel Fees

Our standard travel fee of $15 includes appointments within 10 driving miles of our home office.

Appointments beyond 10 driving miles are subject to an additional mileage charge of $1.00 per mile (round trip) beyond the included travel distance.

Example:

Your appointment location is 15 driving miles from our home office.

  • Standard travel fee (includes first 10 miles): $15
  • Additional distance: 5 miles
  • Round-trip additional travel: 10 miles
  • Additional mileage charge: 10 miles × $1.00 = $10

Total travel fee: $25

Cancellations & Rescheduling

If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, please notify us as soon as possible.

Appointments canceled before travel has begun will not incur any charge. Appointments canceled after travel has begin with be charged the standard travel fee.

Refusal of Service

Michigan law requires notaries public to refuse certain notarizations.

A notarization cannot be completed if:

  • The signer cannot be properly identified.
  • The signer does not appear willing to sign voluntarily.
  • The signer does not appear aware of the transaction.
  • The requested notarial act cannot legally be performed.

North Shore Notary Services complies with all applicable Michigan notary laws and regulations.
